Tested: Marmot PreCip Jacket
This is the most comfortable lightweight waterproof jacket for multipurpose use on the market right now under the £160 price tag. The secret of the jacket is the Nanopore waterproof coating which keeps you comfortable in the jacket allowing air to pass through the jacket’s membrane while still being a very waterproof jacket. In summer conditions traditional waterproof breathable jackets don’t breath as well because they rely on a big temperature differential between the inside and outside of the jacket to drive the breathability. In summer this difference means less breathability; however air permeable jackets like the PreCip still work well as the air passes through the waterproof membrane, taking unwanted moisture with it. The jacket also has pit zips to further regulate your temperature in the jacket while still keeping you dry. The jacket also has a roll up hood and a nonrestrictive fit.
On testing the PreCip jacket, it feels light and comfortable against the skin, the zip is easy to use and has a double storm flap to make it really waterproof. The hood is adjustable and has a volume adjuster on the back. This jacket is great for a multitude of uses, from a holiday shell, to a summer walking jacket. It is the ideal lightweight jacket for most uses and takes a lot of beating. And at £76.50 it is a great buy as well.
