Scarpa Men's Vapour V

Another stalwart of the Scarpa climbing shoe range, the Vapour V is a tried and trusted bastion of the Balanced Performance series. With an impeccable blend of performance, comfort, versatility and durability it’s easy to see why this shoe can be seen everywhere; from indoor boulder gyms to the windswept granite towers of Patagonia. Built around the relatively low volume FR last, the Vapour V provides a slightly asymmetrical and slightly downturned profile. The microfibre upper and padded air mesh tongue marry perfectly with the opposing Velcro straps, for an instantly comfortable fit and secure heel hold. A full length Flexan midsole partners the Bi-Tension rand system to offer the optimum levels of support. Vibram XS Edge rubber ensures further support and precision edging. This iteration of the Vapour V sees a switch from the M70 toe rand - used in its yellow predecessor - to that of the harder, lower stretch Ilga rubber rand seen in the Instinct series. This results in a shoe that holds its toe point, edging precision for longer and provides improved durability.  Often mistaken for a mid-range shoe, the modern Vapour’s complex multi-panel construction, precise fit, premium feature set and worldwide fanbase attest to far more! Technical Features: Bi-Tension: Basically, a reverse slingshot rand that's anchored under the critical toe area and connects directly to the heel rand, only there's nothing basic about it.  The patent-pending system actively pulls power from the toes, rather than cramming your toes painfully forward, giving immediate performance with less tension.  And that means less rubber, making your shoes lighter, more sensitive and more reactive. However, just like tyres on a car, the rubber parts of a boot, shoe or rock shoe can wear down with use, and that’s why we offer a full re-sole service. Resoling not only extends the lifespan of your Scarpa footwear, it also returns it to it’s very best level of performance. M70 Rubb: M70 is a rubber compound that offers good levels of adaptability and containment in the same time. This rubber compound gives a Shore A rating of 70, making it perfect for use on toe rands and strategic positioning around the shoe upper. Vibram® XS Edge: Developed to provide maximum edging support, the VIBRAM® XS Edge compound delivers excellent pure grip while adding improved firmness for the most challenging edging moves. Thanks to an improved resistance to plastic distortion, it keeps its shape even after hours of use, maintains consistent feel in both hot and cold temperatures, and is formulated for improved durability.

DMM Torque Nut Set - Size 1-4

Torque Nuts can be used to protect parallel sided cracks. Their shape means they can be used in multiple orientations, giving you a wide range of placement options with every piece. Lightweight aluminium alloy construction means that despite their low weight, each Torque Nut has a 14kN strength rating. An extendable sling lets you reduce rope drag without extra quickdraws, and can be replaced with DMM's in-house re-slinging service. Torque Nuts work in all conditions. They are especially useful in winter, when icy cracks cannot be protected with cams. However, Wired Torque Nuts are more resistant to accidental axe strikes and easier to control placing above your head. Colour coded for easy size identification. The DMM protection range is colour coded for quick and easy size selection. Colours are co-ordinated across all active protection, for quick selection of alternatives if your first choice doesn't fit. Extendable sling reduces rope drag and rack weight.  Extendable slings allow speedy placement extension without additional quickdraws. Extending placements reduces rope drag when routes change direction, move round corners or over roofs. Simply rack each cam on its own carabiner for a self-contained system that is quick and easy to extend. Carrying less quickdraws minimises rack weight on your harness. Shape allows placements in multiple orientations.  Torque Nuts can be placed in multiple orientations, allowing each piece to fit several sizes and shapes of crack. Passive protection works in wet and icy conditions. Passive protection works by jamming in constrictions to prevent falls. It is suitable for use in all conditions. Unlike active protection such as cams, passive protection can be used in wet or icy cracks, where friction is reduced.
