Mountain Equipment Women's Makalu Jacket

Combining the suppleness required for all-day comfort and easy packability with the robustness to protect in extremely wet weather, the Makalu Jacket is among our most popular waterproof jackets for year-round mountaineers, climbers and walkers. Whether pulled on in the face of building storm clouds or worn all day through relentless winter drizzle, it offers proven protection during high-mileage mountain days and in severe weather. The 70-denier breathable GORE-TEX ePE fabric hits the midweight sweet spot of durability, comfort and weight, withstanding the rigours of mountain rock, heavy packs and severe weather while being supple enough to pack well and comfortable enough to wear all day. The peaked helmet-compatible hood is roomy and fully adjustable, facilitating a secure fit in the face of strong winds. The Alpine Fit minimises excess fabric, avoiding flapping or bunching without feeling restrictive, and articulated pre-shaped sleeves facilitate dynamic movement, whether coiling ropes, shouldering packs or using axes. Mountain Equipment Women's Highpile Fleece Jacket

Inspired by Mountain Equipment original pile fleeces of the 1970s and 80s, the classic styling of the Highpile Hooded Jacket is a throwback to the golden age of Himalayan climbing when budgets were small, and ambition was high. Soft and warm, and with excellent stretch and wicking properties, it’s the ideal mid-layer for mountaineers and walkers needing to beat the cold. With its retro feel, the Highpile Hooded Jacket is at home everywhere, from bare mountain bothies to busy city streets. The high loft fleece, made from 100% recycled post-consumer waste, is soft, stretchy and comfortable against the skin. Designed for cold-weather conditions, it traps heat efficiently and dries quickly, keeping you warm after an uphill climb. Durable and weatherproof softshell fabric overlays on the shoulders pay homage to our early fleece styles and reinforce areas vulnerable to abrasion and thinning. Zippered handwarmer pockets help thaw frozen fingers, and the high collar helps seal out the wind on exposed terrain. Designed around our Alpine Fit and with excellent stretch, the Highpile Hooded Jacket layers well while allowing for a complete range of movement, whether breaking camp beneath the majesty of Annapurna or scrambling Grib Goch’s knife-edge arête. 250g m⁻² high-loft fleece fabric. This comfort ensures that you can stay at ease and relaxed during your outdoor activities, no matter how long they last. The articulated knees and gusseted crotch enable unrestricted movement, leaving you free to focus on the terrain ahead, while reinforcement on the knees and seat add protection for more demanding scrambling and climbing.
